For hikes, for nature drives, for horseback riding (ask us) and even for extreme sports, the north Evia nature has the most appropriate of setting:
deep canyons, rich forests, streams and rivulets and amazing flora. The beautiful ravine of Boulovinenas or Arapi, 3 km west of Agia Anna, is just a 20' hike from the road, ideal for a brief walk in the lush foliage of the area. More advanced hikers can continue along its river, a route that includes walking into up to 1m of water The Agali ravine is perfect for an introduction to canyoning, or a more serious hike, and lots of hikers associations choose it for its introductory and advanced routes, that includes rappelling as well Above Rovies, at Drimonas, the hike to the Drimonas waterfalls, well signalled and with ropes and bridges in the more tricky spots, rewards hikers with a beautiful route that ends in a 15m waterfall and pond. The most popular mountain hikes in the area, are all beginner's level and include the Drimonas – Ksiron Oros route (3,5 hrs), the Agios – Prokopi route (5,5 hrs), the Pili – Pixaria route (2hrs) and the Kastaniotissa route (2hrs), all of which pass through forests, lonely chapels and fresh brooks. For a little less effort, the Kireas plane tree forest, further to the south, lies along the course of the Kireas river. At Paraskevorema, the oldest of the plane trees stands tall at 30m, and it's well worth asking the locals about all the legends and the fairytales that surround the ancient tree. If you are more comfortable in the water, in north Evia you can enjoy scuba diving and a multitude of water sports: in Lichadonisia, the scuba diving center will get you initiated in the beauties of the underwater world of the north Aegean, one of the most rich scuba sites in Greece, while in the Limni area, the local warm wind phenomenon creates a perfect spot for kite surfing and windsurfing while in the calm waters of that area make it perfect for paddling too!
